TVs and streaming boxes running Android TV or Google TV with the Android TV Remote Service, for example Sony BRAVIA, TCL, Hisense, Philips and Chromecast with Google TV.

Tap the TV name at the top of the remote and choose Connect next to your TV. A six-character code appears on the TV; type it in and tap Submit. You only do this once per TV.

Switch the TV on and make sure it and your iPhone are on the same Wi-Fi network (not a guest network, which often blocks devices from seeing each other). Some TVs stop answering in deep standby; wake them with their own remote first.

Couchpad needs Local Network access to find and talk to your TV. If you declined it, turn it on in Settings › Privacy & Security › Local Network › Couchpad.

Tap "No code on the TV? Show a new one" to start again. A mistyped code is caught right away; just type it again.

Couchpad keeps retrying while the remote is open. Check that the TV is on and on the same Wi-Fi. If the TV was reset, Couchpad asks you to pair again.

Open a search or text box on the TV first, then tap the keyboard key. Letters appear on the TV as you type; Return sends Enter.

It opens the TV's own voice search, using the TV remote's or TV's microphone. Couchpad never uses your iPhone's microphone.

Tap an app icon on the remote to open it on the TV. Settings › Manage applications lets you reorder, remove and add apps. The app must be installed on the TV.

Settings › Remote behavior › Smooth Press turns hold-to-repeat on or off for volume, channels and arrows.

Yes. Couchpad talks only to TVs on your Wi-Fi; the only thing it sends to the internet is an anonymous crash report if the app crashes. See the Privacy Policy.
